Margo Kelly is a native of the Northwest, born and raised in Idaho. Margo attended the University of
Puget Sound where she developed a love for writing. She met her husband while in Tacoma,
Washington. They married and moved to Arizona for eight years. Margo finished her college education
in Arizona and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. Margo’s first two children were
born in Arizona. In 1995, Margo and her family moved to Idaho and added a third child to the mix.
Margo started a business named Cotton Comforts which was a monthly newsletter and fabric club for
quilters. She enjoyed writing the articles for the newsletter each month and even had a longer article
published in a national quilting magazine. She sold the business, so she could focus on being a mother to
three toddlers.
It wasn’t long before Margo started another business venture. In 1998, she became an independent
demonstrator for Stampin’ Up! – a rubber stamp and scrapbooking company. She quickly rose to the top
of the business ranking as high as #2 (out of approximately 40,000 demonstrators) in recruiting for the
company. On multiple occasions, Stampin’ Up! asked Margo to be a presenter in front of hundreds of
demonstrators at regional and national training events. Her presentations were featured on dvds as well
as audio recordings for sale to other demonstrators. Margo remains an active demonstrator for
Stampin’ Up! but her focus has shifted again to her children as they have become more involved with
sports, music, debate, and other after school activities.
Even though Dean Koontz is Margo’s favorite author, she has become an avid fan of Young Adult novels.
She loves reading books along with her kids, which are now all teenagers. Books that appeal to the
whole family are highly treasured. Some of these books have included Fablehaven, Pendragon, Moon
Called, and Midnighters - just to name some favorites. (Refer to Margo’s 2009 book list to see authors
and other books Margo has read recently.)
When Margo began writing her debut novel, Manifested, her family voiced their opinions and insisted
the book be one that an entire family would be interested in reading. They think she succeeded. (To

Margo is currently working on her second Young Adult novel, The Education of Thia.
