R is for Shawna Romkey and Random Thoughts.
Shawna Romkey is an avid supporter of other writers and has "taught English at the university and secondary levels for close to twenty years and can’t quite fathom how all of her students have grown up, yet she’s managed to stay the same. She’s a huge geek and fan of Xena, Buffy and all kick ass women, and loves to write stories that have strong female characters." Shawna recently posted advice for new writers. She wrote, "join a writers group in your area. Most of the stuff I learned about publishing and publishers who would be interested in my books was through members in my writing group. They can point you in the right direction and act as beta readers for your projects."
On Bish Denham's Random Thoughts blog, she describes herself as "a children's writer from the Virgin Islands. Growing up there was like living inside a history book; an imagination stimulator. Consequently I've been writing for just about forever. I am a graduate of the Institute of Children's Literature and a member of SCBWI." In a recent post, Bish featured awesome pictures of smiles and wrote, "Today I am thankful for smiles which, though they come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and languages, are understood by everyone.”
