Some of the writing classes I offer include:

“12-Step Writing Process” with Margo Kelly
--- Taking a story from the beginning idea to final publication can be overwhelming, but when you break down the process into twelve manageable steps . . . success is attainable.

“Creating an Authentic Voice for Your Novel” with Margo Kelly

--- The concept of “voice” is an elusive one for many writers, but when you utilize specific techniques to develop your author’s voice, the narrative voice, and each character’s voice, your manuscript will become significantly more dynamic.

“Infuse Tension into Your Writing” with Margo Kelly

--- Conflict begins with your overarching story idea, but to keep readers turning pages, you must infuse tension into every scene. This does not mean inserting fist fights; it means embedding opposing goals, emotions, and ideals. When you steep a scene with contrasting elements, the crafted tension keeps the reader engaged in the story.

“Developing a Cast of Believable Young Adult Characters” with Margo Kelly

--- Readers want more than flat, commonplace characters. Today’s most dynamic stories showcase diverse characters growing and changing as plots unfold. In this class, Margo explains how to give more substance your protagonist, antagonist, and secondary characters.

"Develop Your Story Idea" with Margo Kelly
--- In this hands-on writing workshop, Margo guides participants through the process of developing a story idea into a well-rounded working summary, building it into an intriguing manuscript plot to compel agents, editors, and readers to want to read more.

“Outlining Your Story” with Margo Kelly
--- In this hands-on writing workshop, Margo guides participants through the process of finding an outlining style that works for them to ensure their readers experience an emotional and satisfying adventure within the story’s pages.

“Revising with an Eye for YA” with Margo Kelly
--- The revision process is one of the most important steps in perfecting your overall story. In this class, Margo will show you how to examine your manuscript from different angles, exploring and developing the intrinsic qualities that will have your young adult audience captivated from beginning to end.

Some of the presentations I offer include:

"Book Club Discussions" with Margo Kelly
--- Your group can read any of my titles beforehand, and we'll gather to discuss the content and answer questions.

"Online Safety is our Shared Responsibility" with Margo Kelly

--- Since Margo's critically-acclaimed novel, Who R U Really?, is about Internet predation, the Department of Homeland Security has partnered with Margo to promote online safety with people of all ages. In this presentation, Margo will tailor the content to meet the needs of the age group she's addressing.

Regarding Margo Kelly's debut novel, Who R U Really? --->
"Thea’s mistakes, while frustrating to encounter, are frighteningly plausible, and the relationships among characters are well–fleshed out, especially between mother and daughter. Kelly’s first novel is a suspenseful page-turner with multiple suspects, a little bit of romance, and a strong but not overbearing message." --Kirkus Reviews
