Quitters

The letter Q stands for Quitters.

The old adage says: Quitters never win, and winners never quit.

Is that true? Always?

Can you think of a time in your life that you QUIT something, and you experienced a winning result because of your action? I can.

  1. Yes, I can, but in my case there is always the slight regret that it didn't work out, despite the fact that it led to another opportunity.

  2. Quitting a behavior that does not benefit or achieve the desired results is actually a winning situation in my mind!

  3. I can too. I don't really think of it as "quitting" when I won, though. I tend to think of it as going for the better option. Quitting just seems to negative when you make a conscious choice to leave something for a hopefully better result somewhere else!

  4. LOL yeah, the adage only works if the endeavor is worthwhile in the first place. I don't think many people would argue that those who quit smoking are losers!

  5. Of course! Smoking. I quit smoking ten years ago. Best decision ever. So in my case, as a quitter, I did win. I won my health back.

  6. I look at it like this. I am not going to know if something is going to be good for the long haul, so I do not feel tons of regret if I move on to something else. I just experience some other opportunity. A job, an activity, sometimes even a friendship dies out because of circumstances that you cannot control. I would rather move in in a positive way to something that helps me learn and grow. Good post. Thought provoking.

  7. So true. The adage doesn't apply to everything - to quit smoking, or drinking excessively, eating too much, etc. Some things are good to quit. (just never writing, of course!)

  8. Oh yes. Sometimes you HAVE to quit something so you can go on to something better. The trick is knowing WHEN to quit.

  9. I quit my last job and got a better one in Utah. If I hadn't quit, I'd still be working there for half the wage I make now putting up with all kinds of crap.

  10. I quit piano, and I guess that means I didn't win any more grades under my belt ;) But I won a lot more spare time! LOL.

  11. I did Quit a job I hated once and then promptly landed the job of my dreams. Probably the only time quitting has ever done me any good.

  12. Yep, I quit having unrealistic expecation of myself that I would never expect others to live up to. And Me, Myself and I have a much better relationship now because of it. :-)
