Flat Belly Diet! Pocket Guide: Featuring Your ULTIMATE 28-Day Eating Plan for Lasting Weight LossFlat Belly Diet! Pocket Guide: Featuring Your ULTIMATE 28-Day Eating Plan for Lasting Weight Loss by Liz Vaccariello

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Maybe I should wait until I complete the program before I rate this book? Nah.

I read some of the other reviews, and I find it interesting to think we all read the same book. The opinions vary greatly - - but overall, I think this is a great book.

Here's why:

1. It was recommended to me.
2. It was easy and quick to read.
3. It was motivating.
4. I've finished day two of the jumpstart program, and I'm doing well on the program.

I've only felt hungry once or twice, and it didn't last long, because the meals are spaced four hours apart. It's been a challenge to give up the butter and the salt shaker - - but I'm discovering the flavors of the different seasonings available.

And, the most exciting part of this program? My family is doing it with me! What could possibly entice my family to eat the food (measured and weighed) from a diet program?

Well ... the concept and the foods are very appealing. There is way more meat (chicken, fish, turkey, tuna, etc.) in the program than what we normally eat. And, the diet is based on the concept of eating Monounsaturated Fatty Acids. What are those? Well, they just happen to be some of my family's favorite foods: olives, avocados, nuts, seeds, and dark chocolate - - yes! DARK CHOCOLATE!

So, my goal is to stick with it for the entire 28 day program (after the 4 day jump start). There are weekly menus and weekly grocery lists for the 28 days, and that makes it so much easier.

  1. Heh, this amused me: "Maybe I should wait until I complete the program before I rate this book? Nah."

    I don't know why. Maybe 'cause I'm weird?? ;)

    Good luck with the program!!

  2. Is there a non-meat-filled version? Doesn't have to be completely vegetarian, but I don't eat much meat.

  3. Good luck girl! I'm trying to lose myself. Its so hard. I've been making a great trail mix which has all the yummies you need to stave off hunger plus it gives you all the monos you need too. My husband has lost around 35 pounds. Yay. I'll share the recipe.

1 box Kashi crunch cereal. We use the honey almond flax.
1 1/2 cups of dried cranberries, blueberries
    1/2 cup of raisins
2 cans of Planters Heart Healthy nut mix

Toss all ingredients into a large zip lock bag to mix. About a cup makes a great snack and you'll never get hungry. ;)

  4. Margo, this looks interesting. I'm sure you'll let us know how it goes. I'm always up for helpful ideas. I'm in the same boat with my dieting. I've decided it's time to get motivated and get rid of this extra fifty pounds I've been carrying around since my youngest was born. It's hard to call it baby fat when she's almost as tall as I am. I'll be cheering for you!

  5. Wow! I'll have to check it out. I'm always on the look out for a good diet book. I wish you much success on your goal!

  6. This is really good to know! I've been needing to eat better, but haven't found anything I've wanted to stick with. This might be a good one. As for the mixed reviews, it seems like every single dieting book has those. I guess no one thing works for everyone.
