Quick Quote for Inspiration

"If your story is worth telling, it must be vitally important to everyone involved."

-- Blake Snyder (Save the Cat, p. 135)

  1. Not sure I agree. I used to read Agatha Christie, but it wasn't vitally important - just fun.

  2. Hi Belle! I think the quote refers to the characters of the story. So, when writing a story, if it's not vitally important to "everyone" (meaning the characters) involved ... then either some of those characters need to be cut or given a different motivation -- or the plot needs to be adjusted.

But you are absolutely right, when READING a story, the story itself does not need to be important to EVERYONE!! :-)

  3. Okay, I am seeing "Save the Cat" all over the internet. I guess I'm going to have to read this book.

Can I get it on Kindle? ;)

  4. Great quote. I thought I was already following you--weird.

So my face is added and I'm waving to ya from our same campaigners group :)
