A Book I Couldn't Put Down

What is it about a great book that makes it impossible to think of anything else until you finish it? And then when you do finish it, you feel a little sad because it's over?

Well, that's how I feel about Charlaine Harris' Sookie Stackhouse series. I am in love with the characters, and I cannot wait to find out what's going to happen next with them. So when the most recent one came out, I put down the other book I was in the middle of, and read Sookie from cover to cover instead. And then I was sad it was over. While it wasn't the best book in the series, I still loved it. It was like going to lunch with some of my favorite friends that I haven't seen in a long time.

Glancing at reviews on Goodreads, this book took a LOT of hits claiming it was boring and a "filler" type of book in the series. To some extent, I agree, but I still loved it. I'm not giving it five stars on Goodreads, because it was nowhere near my favorite, but I'm not giving it one star, because I pretty much read it in one sitting. I love the characters, and I can hardly wait for the next book to come out.

  1. I'm sad that the next book is the last one. I got into the series when the 9th book was about to come out and I read the first 8 in like four days, or something crazy like that. I checked them out 3 at a time from the library.

  2. I haven't read this series. Now I think I need to.

There are a couple series I have loved to the point that I read the latest release sitting in the car outside the bookstore. COuldn't even wait to get it home.

  3. Good to know! I'm always looking for books that are hard to put down. I haven't read any of hers before, but have heard this is a wonderful series.

  4. This is one of those series I've put off. I'm sure it'll eventually surface on my TBR. :)
