#IWSG: Patience is a Daily Struggle!

The first Wednesday of the month is Insecure Writer's Support Group! For more information visit: www.insecurewriterssupportgroup.com

Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!

What is my current doubt or concern? ... Oh. My. I struggle with patience on a daily basis. And I don't even mean patience with other people. I mean patience with the process. Specifically, right now, the waiting. While I'm SO THANKFUL that I have the opportunity to be traditionally published ... the cogs and wheels of that machine can be very slow sometimes. So ... I must take a deep breath.

And while I wait (not patiently) I remind myself that it is my job to write.

Because I am a writer. Not a waiter. ;)

What about you?
Are you a patient person?

  1. LOL! I know what you mean. I'm like "I've been at the 30K mark forever!" Who cares that I've pulled 15K away to become a separate story or that all the key elements are present and just need fattening up. It should be done already! ;)

  2. Same here with the waiting. I keep getting asked questions on my book, and my answer is "just waiting...I'm sure I'll have information soon!" For me, I stay busy with other projects, but I notice the impatience when other people ask for updates on my contracted book.

Here is my August IWSG post. It's the second post on my blog today because my Pitch Wars mentor bio needs to stay at the top. Thanks!

  3. Not really. The only way I cope is to stay too busy to think about what I'm waiting for. :-)

  4. I feel your pain, Margo! Waiting is the pits. It gives the insecurities too much time to play devil's advocate. Hang in there!

  5. Yes, we're writers not waiters! lol I have to admit that I sometimes get caught up in waiting, too, and freeze like a deer in the headlights. Wishing you good luck on defeating "waiting" by working on a great new project!

  6. Patience is rough. I'm waiting on a beta reader and I have to resist emailing her and asking. Especially since right now is anniversary of family members' deaths for her. It'd be rude to bug her.

  7. I think one of my favourite skits involving patience comes from the Frantics - Boot to the Head.
"In order to proceed, you must learn patience."
"Yea, yea, yea. Patience. How long will that take?"
I'm the same way. I'm far to impatient sometimes to even begin the first step of a task.

  8. I'm patient everywhere except behind the wheel.
It may take a while, but at least that gives you time to plan your marketing strategy.
