#IWSG: More Challenging - Book Titles or Character Names?

Today is the first Wednesday of the month, which means it is time for The Insecure Writer's Support Group. If you've not heard of it before, check out the complete details by clicking here.

The purpose of the group is "to share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!"

This month's question is: What's harder for you to come up with, book titles or character names?

My answer: Book titles are MUCH harder for me to conjure, while playing with possible character names is a huge adventure for me. For example, my current project features rugby players. I researched various rosters of rugby teams around the world and compiled a large list of possible names for the story's characters. So. Much. Fun.

What about you? Which is more challenging, coming up with book titles or character names?

  1. Book titles are much harder for me, too, and usually wait until the book is completed before deciding. This seems to be the case for many of writers posting this month.

  3. Definitely book titles. It has to be just the right fit.

  4. Characters are definitely easier. Too much pressure attached to choosing a title.

  5. Book names. That's why I usually make use of acronyms on my blog. I'm using such lame working titles that it's embarrassing to share them in full. :-D
