X Marks the Spot

The letter X stands for bookmark ... right? ... because X marks the spot, and a bookmark saves our spot in our favorite book.

Do you use a bookmark? Or do you fold down corners?

I love bookmarks. I even have a fun collection of them. However, to be honest with you, when I'm reading a hardback book, I simply use the folded edge of the jacket cover to keep my page.

Do you have a favorite type of bookmark?

  1. Me too. I use the jacket for hardbacks until I need to use a book mark. Since my mother was a librarian we were discouraged from damaging books even by turning down corners.

BTW Rachel Morgan's blog has an X treasure hunt on her blog :O)

  2. I never dog-ear books! Horror of horrors, lol. I love bookmarks. I have a lot of them; I like fun, colorful ones. My favorite is my Ariel (from The Little Mermaid) bookmark and a bookmark with a baby zebra drinking from a stream. I have lots of different kinds, though!

  3. I'm terrible with book marks. I always lose them! Usually I end up using a receipt or some other scrap of paper found at the bottom of my hangbag. I need a collection of nice, pretty bookmarks and somewhere to keep them.

  4. Ya know, I used to dog ear every book, then my husband asked one day, why I didn't just use a bookmark. My answer, "I don't know." So, now I buy them and he says, "bookmarks are kind of expensive huh?" Is there no pleasing this man?

  5. My bookmarks are nearly always the receipt from when I bought the book.
