Share & Encourage - Insecure Writer's Support Group
The first purpose of the Insecure Writer's Support Group is to share and encourage.
So ... let me SHARE some of my favorite things:
Oh ... wait ... maybe I was supposed to SHARE things directly related to writing? :-) Frankly, the above items ARE related to writing, because they relieve my stress and enable me to focus on delicious sensations to improve my writing efforts. Yeah. That's WRITE!
Now, let me encourage you:
If only we, as writers, could be determined as the character "Salt" ... we could accomplish all of our writerly goals. Watch a movie with a strong female protagonist (or male, if you're a man!) and get inspired to kick butt!
Buy these handy little pens and change the way you read - - fiction and non-fiction. When you're going through a book, for pleasure and for knowledge, highlight a passage that you find particularly inspiring or motivating and flag the ones that matter most to you. This process makes you consider the writing more deeply and helps you remember what it was about the book that inspired you.
Do you mark books while you read?

I love your favourite things.. now I'm craving chocolate.ReplyDelete
I've never highlighted a book before, although it would be easy to highlight eBooks.ReplyDelete
No pictures of Hot Tamales?
Thanks for joining the IWSG!
I'll opt for the chocolate covered strawberries. Send a dozen, please. I'm editing an old manuscript. Grrrr. Need lots of chocolate, but want fruit to stay healthy during this process.ReplyDelete
Thanks for the post. Just joined the hop!
Mmmmmm--Love your treats. Also loved Salt. I get so annoyed at women who need rescuing (in fact I have a mystery series I've commited to a man needing a rescue each book *wink*)ReplyDelete
Chocolate covered strawberries are my favorite. (wiping drool off my face) Write on!ReplyDelete
Those photos lead me to believe we may be related. I'm eating chocolate at the moment.ReplyDelete
I don't highlight or mark books because I tend to read books that impress me with every sentence. The entire book would be highlighted. Occasionally I jot down quotes that really move me.
Thanks for the follow. I'm happy to reciprocate.
I have never seen those pens before, but I need them. Now. And maybe the chocolate, too. I underline passages I like and keep quotes that are particularly inspiring filed away in a notebook.ReplyDelete
Those pens are very cool. I'm not much of a highlighter, but I have to say I'm very excited that my new Nook allows me to "mark" pages in similar ways. I haven't used the feature much, but I like knowing it's there to note those words that really move me.ReplyDelete
Great inspiration! Nothing like kick butt women to get up the fighting spirit to slog through writers' block, edits, or a difficult scene that's been giving you fits. And I love the inspirational food items...mmm chocolate. :)ReplyDelete
This post has me craving all sorts of chocolate now! And YES to kick-butt protags!ReplyDelete
No, I just can't. I'm my father's daughter. I read passages out loud to my sweet patootie though.ReplyDelete
Thanks for coming by my place and I agree - chocolate is about writing.
Great inspiration. Though I have to admit, I just can't mark up my books. I cringe when the school has my son annotate on the books. It drives me nuts. =)ReplyDelete
That was all very encouraging, from the chocolate, to the kick butt proganist, to the highlighters. Thanks!!!ReplyDelete
That was the best. I love those pens. I hadn't ever seen them before. I generally highlight then use a separate set of tabs. This is brilliant.ReplyDelete
Thanks. Happy holidays! I hope you had a great year.
Yay! I thought I was the only one who enjoyed that film :-)ReplyDelete
Thanks for the sweets-yum! The book for encouragement I have yet to read, but now I'm curious. the pens look great! I love high-lighting my notes. Sometimes I highlight sections in books, but mostly I just underline sections with a pen.ReplyDelete
