"It is not enough for the hero to triumph, he must change the world." -- Blake Snyder, SAVE THE CAT
"Cracking the door open for teenage drama doesn't mean throwing that door wide for sterotypical characters or hokey dialogue that over-emotes to make up for a flat plot." -- Deborah Halverson, WRITING YOUNG ADULT FICTION FOR DUMMIES
Do you have a writing quote to share?
I love the Halverson quote.
ReplyDeleteI included some writing quotations in today's post at my blog.
Have a nice weekend!
The universe is not made of atoms. It's made of tiny stories.
ReplyDeleteGreat post.
I'm reading Save the Cat! right now. So many novelists were recommending it last year and I finally got around to reading it. It's great so far and can definitely be applied super well for novelists!
ReplyDeleteI have a million favorite quotes on writing, as you might know from my weekly quote posts, LoL. Here's one from yesterday's persistence quotes that I love:
"The bottom line is not how fast you make your dream come true, but how steadily you pursue it." ~Sarah Ban Breathnach
I love SAVE THE CAT! I'll have to pick up the Deborah Halverson book next :)
ReplyDeleteWell, I already shared this one today, but it's a classic so here goes. "Writing should be like a woman's skirt. Long enough to cover the subject, but short enough to keep it interesting." :) Thanks to my old English prof for that one!
ReplyDeleteI have a quote post lined up somewhere in the future. Here's a preview of one of the quotes: "Talent is cheaper than table salt. What separates the talented individual from the successful one is a lot of hard work." by Stephen King
ReplyDeleteNo quotes to share, just a new follower from the A-Z trail. Enjoying your blog very much.

Nice post! Brilliant...asking to share. :-)
ReplyDelete"It is impossible to discourage the real writers - they don't give a damn what you say, they're going to write." ~Sinclair Lewis
A favourite quote of mine is from Maya Angelou, "There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you."

Someone already shared my current favorite (the atoms one), but the ones you shared are great too!
