IWSG: Secrets

Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!

Posting: The first Wednesday of every month is officially Insecure Writer’s Support Group day. Post your thoughts on your own blog. Talk about your doubts and the fears you have conquered. Discuss your struggles and triumphs. Offer a word of encouragement for others who are struggling. Visit others in the group and connect with your fellow writer - aim for a dozen new people each time - and return comments. This group is all about connecting!

June's Question: Writers have secrets! What are one or two of yours, something readers would never know from your work?

My Answer: Huh. This one really stumps me. I am not a keeper of secrets. I pretty much wear everything right on my sleeve for the whole world to see. Well. Except maybe my pandemic hair. I'm considering letting it go gray. (YIKES) But I haven't decided for sure. It makes me feel older every time I look in the mirror. Maybe I should keep coloring it? I'll make a decision before my next official author appearance. Ha.

How about you? Do you keep secrets?

  1. I'm with ya', sister, on the gray hair decision. I finally decided to go gray a year ago just curious to see what it would look like. I kind of like it and have not colored it. So much easier. And I think my colored hair made my wrinkles more visible? I dunno. What does this have to do with writing? Well, we have to look our best online and in person, don't we? Good luck with your decision. Happy IWSG Day!

  2. I 've used box hair coloring forever. It works and its cheap. My secret is in my book, where I expose myself, but nobody would know unless they lived my life...LOL.

  3. So, I went for almost 3 months without coloring (and I am an every five-week kind of girl)and then got talked into doing it again. I will say I like it better colored, but I got a little idea how much easier it will be when I finally give in. No, it has nothing to do with writing...just something to write about!

  4. I didn't have much in the way of secrets either! I'm embracing the silver fox look as the grey slowly takes over. I got my first grey hair when I was 19 and I don't mind at all - at least in my family, we don't also go bald. I wouldn't like that at all!

  5. I let my wife color mine once for the fun of it. But natural grey works for me.
