Weekly Writing Motivation

It's not that I'm lacking motivation ... My problem this summer is I'm lacking available hours in the day.

So, if any of you know a great website that teaches how to find more hours in the day - - - let me know.

Until then, here's what I'm doing:

1. Reading TIME MANAGEMENT FROM THE INSIDE OUT by Morgenstern (but, I've had trouble finding time to read it, bwhahahaha).

2. Reorganizing my priorities. This summer I've given the majority of every waking minute to my children and their activities. I love them, and I love spending time with them, but this summer it has been to the detriment of all my other obligations, goals, and priorities. Therefore, I am reconsidering my list (which is easier knowing school is just around the corner).

3. Participating in my gal-pal's Weekly Writing Motivation. :)

Melissa Dean has come up with a great idea. Check out the details here:

When and how do you find time to write?

6 comments:

  1. Generally if in a crunch I pencil in time to write. If there really is no time, I will set my alarm an hour early and dedicate that time to writing. If anyone tries to bother me during that time, I let them know that as far as they're concerned I'm still sleeping. The only reason I'm up early is to write and if I can't write then I'll sleep, but those are the only two options.

And if THAT fails, go with the tried and true method of keeping a mini pocket notebook in your purse. Waiting in the doctors office or at the deli counter? Now you can write down your thoughts wherever you go.

    Good luck!

  2. Margo, I'm with you. I have spent such a great amount of time with my kids this summer. I figured I'd set a "reading time" aside every day for them while mommy wrote but I still have an almost first-grader who does much better reading with me. So that idea didn't go too far. Plus, we've had cooking classes, singing classes, tumbling and church things. The summer has flown! I'll miss having my kids home, but I welcome the writing time for sure.

  3. I recently found a website called 750words.com, that rewards you for each day in a row you write. It's really nifty. Go check it out. It's helped me write five days in a row now! And more to come.

  4. Time spent with your kids are never wasted time; I say you have your priority straight. On the bright side, summer is almost over and you will have plenty of time to write now.

  6. At 4 AM. Or I leave my 12 yo babysitting my 7 yo for three hours in the afternoon. But I have tried to spend more time with the family this summer - they grow up too quickly.

    Good luck with the balance!
